 In response to strong sales, around 100 Ford dealers will build stand-alone showrooms for the Ford Bronco with room for three vehicles and an outdoor fire pit.   More at Car and Driver. 

 As the semiconductor chip shortage continues, General Motors has cut back on truck production at two assembly plants in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Flint, Michigan. More at Reuters. 

 President Joe Biden and Ford Motor hailed a deal struck by South Korean EV battery makers SK Innovation and LG Chem that will allow Ford a continuing supply. More at The Detroit News. 

 Two-time Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya says he would be “a big fan, to be honest” of the recently tested push-to-pass system at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. More at Racer. 

+   Mecum Auctions has added a new event to its schedule in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 15-16, to be held in conjunction with the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival. More at Classic Cars.com Journal 

+   Freightliner is taking orders and will begin production in early 2022 on a pair of battery-electric trucks: the Class 8 tractor eCascada and the medium-duty chassis cab eM2. More at Autoblog. 

 Toyota will introduce its Advanced Drive system to American buyers this fall in the 2022 Lexus 500h AWD, joining Tesla and GM with Level 2 autonomous driving capability. More at Autoweek. 

 Ford chief executive Jim Farley, who owns two Harley-Davidsons, has agreed to serve on the corporate board of directors for the troubled Milwaukee company. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 Top sales at the Race Retro Live Online sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions included a 1950 Alta HWM Jaguar, a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTC, and three choice Aston Martin DB6s. More at Sports Car Digest. 

+   Speedway Motorsports CEO Marcus Smith says he is serious about putting a roof over Bristol Motor Speedway, an idea first proposed by his father Bruton Smith four  years ago. More at Jayski.
