 Volkswagen chief Herbert Diess is stepping down as head of the supervisory boards at subsidiaries Seat and Skoda to focus on building a stronger EV software team. More at Reuters. 

+   NASCAR and Texas Motor Speedway officials unveiled a radical new format for the NASCAR Cup All-Star Race on June 13, including a random drawing for starting positions. More at Speed Sport. 

+   The market for used Class 8 heavy-duty trucks is booming, as auction prices leaped 22 percent and retail prices rose nearly 5 percent in March, according to JD Power. More at Commercial Carrier Journal. 

 Electric truck startup Rivian has confirmed that both its R1T pickup and R1S SUV will be available with an all-glass panoramic roof panel by the middle of next year. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Ford Motor Co. booked a $3.3 billion profit in the first quarter, but warned that the global microchip shortage could cut production by half in the the second quarter. More at The Detroit News.

 Tesla reported a net profit of $438 million for the first quarter on net revenue of $10.1 billion, based in part on a bitcoin sale and $518 million in revenue from energy credits. More at Autoweek. 

+   McLaren CEO Zak Brown called for an immediate change to secret ballots for key Formula 1 votes to prevent smaller teams from feeling pressure from their larger affiliates. More at Autosport.
