 Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to his social media platform X to deny a report by Retuers that the electic vehicle maker has scrapped its plan to introduce a low-priced EV. More at Reuters. 

 The list of the 25 best-selling cars and trucks in the USA so far in 2024 is led by the Ford F-series pickups, Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota RAV4, and the Tesla Model Y EV. More at Car and Driver.  

 Though many sources say around 1.1 million, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation estimates that American consumers bought more than 1.4 million electric vehicles in 2023. More at Autoweek. 

 Retired Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel confirmed that he is talks with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff about a possible comeback to the series in 2025. More at the Guardian. 

 The one-of-a-kind 1963 Ford Mustang II concept car now owned by the Detroit Historical Society will be on display at the 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals on May 31-June 2. More at Hemmings. 

 The weight of EV batteries should be cut by half over the next decade to make the cars more efficient and environmentally friendly, says Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Spy photographers have captured images of a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class midsize SUV prototype in camouflage that indicate more substantial changes than the previous update. More at Motor Authority. 

 Ford is now offering $1000 in cash to current owners and lessees of Dodge Chargers, Dodge Challengers, and Chevrolet Camaros who buy or lease a 2024 Mustang. More at The Drive.  

 The Hagerty-owned Detroit Concours, recently staged at the Detroit Institute of Arts and with roots in the Meadow Brook Concours first held in 1979, has been cancelled for 2024. More at the Detroit Free Press.
