 British auto production in July fell to its lowest level since 1956 as the global semiconductor shortage and COVID-19 self-isolations struck the industry, a trade group reported. More at Reuters. 

 The board of directors at embattled electric truck maker Lordstown Motors has appointed former Icahn Enterprises CEO Daniel Ninivaggi to serve as chief executive. More at Fox Business. 

+   As part of its Vorsprung 2030 initiative, Audi confirmed that all new models from 2026 will be all-electric and internal-combustion vehicles will be discontinued in 2033. More at The Drive. 

+   Robin Miller, the straight-talking print journalist and television reporter who covered open-wheel racing in America for more than four decades, has succumbed to cancer at 71. More at IndyStar. 

 Sources say Ford has cancelled its plans to introduce a pickup version of the Bronco that was to be built in the Wayne, Michigan plant next to the Bronco and Ranger. More at Car and Driver. 

 General Motors will require its 40,000 salaried employees to disclose their COVID-19 vaccine status and furnish photos of their vaccinations cards as proof, the company says. More at The Detroit News. 

 Rivian CEO R.J. Scaringe has sent a message to reservation holders suggesting that deliveries of the RT1 electric pickup next month are awaiting only government approvals. More at Autoblog.

+   BMW will introduce a new vehicle later this year that will be produced at the automaker’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant for U.S. and international markets. More at CNBC.
