 A federal judge ordered Ford to pay $23,000 to the owners of a 2014 Ford Focus with a PowerShift dual clutch transmission for violating consumer protection laws. More at The Detroit News. 

 As PSA Groupe and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles merge and consolidate their product lines, 70 percent of the products could be based on two PSA modular platforms. More at Autoblog. 

+   NASCAR legend Junior Johnson, whose career as a driver, mechanic, and team owner began as a moonshiner outrunning the law, has passed away at age 88. More at The Charlotte Observer. 

 The German media reports “massive software problems” with the Volkswagen ID.3 electric car, with finished vehicles held in storage lots until updates can be installed. More at Inside EVs. 

 General Motors is recalling more than 814,000 pickup trucks and cars in the U.S. to correct defects in their electronic brake controls and battery cables. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 The final Porsche 911 of the 991 generation rolled off the assembly line last week as the German automaker moves the 992-generation vehicles into production. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+   Two classic Bugattis with fascinating histories, a 1938 T57C Stelvio and a 1925 T23 Brescia, will be offered at the RM Sotheby’s Paris sale on February 5. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 A 2020 C8 Corvette has been unofficially timed at 7:28.30 on a flying lap at the Nürburgring, a performance comparable to the  Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4. More at The Drive. 

+   Charles Leclerc has extended his contract with the Ferrari Formula 1 team in a deal that means the Monegasque will stay at the Scuderia until at least 2024. More at Motorsport.com.
