+   Chinese regulatory authorities have fined Toyota 87.6 million yuan ($12.5 million USD) for price-fixing on its premium Lexus cars in the eastern Jiangsu province. More at Reuters. 

+   Mazda will debut its first mass-market electric, the MX30 crossover, in Europe next summer with a relatively small 35.5 kilowatt-hour battery pack to minimize weight. More at Automotive News Europe. 

 According to automotive analysts at the research firm IHS Markit, SUVs will continue to grow larger because consumers favor greater passenger space over fuel economy. More at USA Today. 

+   Tony Stewart swept both features at the 22nd annual Rumble in Fort Wayne midget event at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. More at NBC Sports. 

+   Volkswagen is accelerating its move into battery-powered cars, saying it will reach its goal of one million electric cars per year in 2023, two years earlier than planned. More at The Detroit News. 

 A teaser video on the Mercedes-AMG YouTube channel confirms that the 2020 GT73 four-door coupe will be a plug-in hybrid with 800 hp and all-wheel-drive. More at The Drive.

+   Backed by the government of president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s Automobile Joint Venture Group startup plans five new vehicles, including an electric SUV due in 2022. More at Bloomberg.com. 

 The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction will extend its prime-time selling hours on Friday and Saturday evening to allow more top-dollar cars to cross the block. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 Kia Europe COO Emilio Herrera says the Imagine EV concept that debuted at this year’s Geneva Motor Show is slated to become a production model “in one or two years.” More at Autoblog. 

+   The NTT IndyCar Series will expand its use of two-stage pit-lane speed limiters, first implemented at Texas Motor Speedway last year, to all the oval tracks on the calendar. More at Racer.
