 The Ford Maverick, Ford Bronco, and Honda Civic have won their respective 2022 North American vehicle of the year honors from a jury of national automotive journalists. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 New vethicle sales in the USA will climb just 3.4 percent this year to 15.4 million units as the chip shortage continues, according to the National Auto Dealers Association (NADA). More at The Detroit News.

 General Motors will launch its own single-point used-car sales website, to be called CarBravo and designed to compete with Carvanna and other online platforms. More at Car and Driver. 

+   IMSA has accepted 61 entries for the 60th running of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona on January 29-30, with competitors in five categories including seven entries in DPi. More at Racer. 

 The BMW brand delivered an all-time high of 2.21 million vehicles in 2021, an increase of 9.1 percent from last year, while also doubling its sales of electric vehicles. More at Reuters.   

+   Insiders in the dealer network have confirmed that the Toyota Supra will be offered in the USA market with a true three-pedal manual transmission beginning later this year. More at The Drive. 

+   Volkswagen Group’s China unit has shut a plant it jointly runs with FAW Group in the city of Tianjin, as well as a component factory, due to recent COVID-19 outbreaks. More at U.S. News & World Report Money. 

+   GM has trademarked the name PowerBase, which observers believe will apply to the onboard power supply on the Silverado EV, competing with Ford’s ProPower feature. More at Autoblog. 

 A ’50s-style 1932 Ford hot rod owned by guitarist Brian Setzer of Stray Cats fame will be among the star attactions at this month’s Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. More at ClassicCars.com Journal.
