Today’s headlines:

 Ford had the most vehicles subject to federal recalls last year, followed closely by General Motors, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). More at USA Today. .

 Electric carmaker BYD of China, which is currently building a plant in Brazil, has held talks with Brazilian supplier Sigma Lithium about a possible takeover or joint venture. More at Financial Times. 

 Tesla  and Volvo reported they were suspending some production at plants in Europe due to supply chain problems caused by attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea. More at Reuters. 

 Nine of the 10 full-time teams in the IndyCar series have secured their driver lineups for the 2024 season, leaving only Dale Coyne Racing left with two seats presumably open. More at Racer. 

+   Stellantis announced that it is investing in sodium-ion battery startup Tiama of France, with the funds used in part for the construction of a battery factory in northern France, More at World Auto Forum. 

 Plans to launch a line of supercars under the Brabham name no longer have financial backing after Brabham Racing, which owns the name, parted ways with Fusion Capital. More at Motor Authority. 

  A 1966 Ford GT, one of 30 cars built for road use with a fully trimmed interior and a 289 cubic-inch V8, sold for $6.93 million at the Mecum Kissimmee auction. More at American Cars and Racing. 

+   At the Tokyo Auto Salon, Mazda unveiled a pair of street-legal track day concepts under the Mazda Spirit Racing brand, one based on the Miata and the other a Mazda3 hatchback. More at Autoblog. 

+   Stellantis has released preliminary photos of a pre-production version of the 2025 Dodge Charger Daytonar, its two-door electric muscle car due to arrive sometime in late 2024. More at The Drive. 

 NASCAR veteran J.J. Yeley will not be returning to his Cup ride with Rick Ware Racing next season, hoping to secure a full-time Xfinity series ride that can run in the top 10. More at Jayski.

    • It’s really hard for me growing up in the 50’s to embrace any 4 door. Unless it’s a family car. BITD if it had 4 doors it was a “Daddys car” 🙂

      • Same for me Mike, except I have mellowed. They all look the same from the driver’s seat!
