Today’s Headlines:

+   Ford announced that its adjusted pretax earnings for the second quarter will “surpass its expectations” and improve over the same period last year, but net earnings will be lower. More at CNBC. 

 Volkswagen’s Audi unit will stop introducing cars equipped with gasoline and diesel engines from 2026 on, according to the German daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. More at Reuters. 

 A bipartisan group of U.S. senators, including democrat Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, introduced a bill to create an investment tax credit for microchip manufacturing.  More at The Detroit News. 

+   Formula 1 and sports car driver Kevin Magnussen will make his IndyCar debut at Road America this weekend, subbing for the injured Felix Rosenqvist at Arrow McLaren SP. More at Motorsport.com. 

 For 2022, the Kia Telluride SUV has been treated to a redesigned grille, a minor exterior freshening, more available convenience features, and a $600 price increase. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Mazda will introduce 10 new hybrid models and three all-electric vehicles based on the automaker’s Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture between 2022 and 2025. More at Autoblog.  

+   Porsche is blocked from selling the 2022 911 GT3 with a manual transmission in California because it exceeds the vehicle noise limits in the state’s Code of Regulations. More at Car and Driver. 

 Headliners at the Bonhams Quail Lodge auction in Carmel, California on August 13 will include a 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 with a flamboyant cabriolet body by Figoni et Falaschi. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 Lincoln will introduce its first all-electric vehicle, an Aviator-sized SUV, sometime in 2022 and plans to electrify is entire line by 2030, according to Ford CEO Jim Farley. More at The Drive. 

 The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has signed Alfa Romeo chief designer Luca Furbatto to serve as engineering director, while Andrew Green will become chief technical officer. More at BBC Sport.

    But those bumpers? Fugly and tacky. And this is a 1948 car, not 1938.
    What were thy thinking!!
