Today’s headlines: 

+   Kia has renewed its commitment to the minivan category, teasing a rendering of a redesigned 2022 Sedona van that is scheduled to reach the USA sometime in 2021. More at Car and Driver. 

 The redesigned 2021 Ford F-150 pickup, due to debut on June 25, will feature an upgraded interior with a lay-down “sleeper seat” mechanism for the front passenger. More at Autoblog. 

+   General Motors will observe 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence at its facilities worldwide in memory of the life of George Floyd and as tribute to Juneteenth. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Series officials declined the entry of IndyCar veteran and NASCAR rookie James Davison for this weekend’s Talladega race, which will be run without practice sessions. More at Speedway Digest. 

+   Markus Duesmann, the current head of Volkswagen’s Audi brand, will also lead the division’s research and development group, replacing Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler. More at UK Metro. 

 San Francisco-based electric vehicle startup Lucid will introduce its production-spec Air sedan, boasting a range of 400 miles, in an online presentation on September 9. More at Motor Trend. 

 An estimated 30,000 salaried employees at Ford Motor Company will be given the option to perform all or part of their work from home through the end of the year. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 Tesla is acquiring $5 million worth of land outside of Austin, Texas to build a new assembly plant, and is seeking $60 million in tax incentives for the project. More at Electrek. 

+   A 1967 GMC pickup originally used by Elvis Presley on his Horn Lake, Mississippi ranch will be offered at the GAA Collector Car Auction in in Greensboro, North Carolina. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   The IndyCar Series announced that fans will be readmitted to the grandstands starting with the Iowa Speedway dual event in Newton, Iowa on July 17 and 18. More at IndyStar.

  1. Oh my goodness, a “lay down seat for the passenger”, how innovative. Nash had it in the 30’s,,,,clearly running out of ideas.
