+   Ernst & Young predicts that electric vehicles will top global sales by 2033, five years earlier than previously forecast, while ICE vehicle sales will plummet to one percent by 2045. More at The Detroit News. 

 Ford will provide both gasoline-fueled and battery-election powertrains for the new generation of U.S. Postal Service trucks to be produced by Oshkosh in South Carolina. More at Car and Driver. 

+   According to data compiled by Kelly Blue Book, the average new car purchase price in May was $41,263, an increase of $2,125 or 5.4 percent over the same month last year. More at Autoblog. 

+   The FIA, Formula 1’s technical governing body, will take steps to slow down pit stops starting at this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix, citing growing concerns about pit lane safety. More at Racefans.net. 

+   The bipartisan $1.2 trillion U.S. infrastructure deal negotiated by congress includes $15 billion to add more EV charging stations and purchase electric school and transit buses. More at Reuters. 

+   To launch its new “Work From Anywhere” campaign, GMC is offering free in-car WiFi internet via 4G LTE to the first 20,200 current vehicle owners who enroll in the service. More at The Drive. 

+   Ferrari has formally unveiled the 2022 296 GTB, which features a 2992cc twin-turbo V6 and hybrid electric motor package capable of 818 horsepower and 205 mph. More at Motor1.com. 

 Hagerty has added the Amelia Island Concours to its growing portfolio of collector car events, which already includes the Concours d’Elegance of America and the California Mille. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   Volvo is the latest automaker to form a joint venture with a battery manufacturer, teaming up with Northvolt to establish a new European battery production facility by 2026. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+   As rumored, NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Jeff Gordon will leave the Fox Sports TV booth at the end of the 2021 season to become vice chairman at Hendrick Motorsports. More at The Charlotte Observer.
