 The governors of Michigan and seven more auto-producing states have pressed President Joe Biden for help in easing the semiconductor shortage, which threatens production. More at The Detroit News. 

  According to Automobilwoche, Porsche will participate in a financing round for Rimac Automobili that will see the electric supercar maker raise $157 million to $181 million. More at Reuters. 

+   Jeep announced pricing for the 2021 Grand Cherokee L due to hit showrooms this year, with stickers ranging from a $38,690 base to $66,985 for a Summit Reserve V8. More at Autoblog. 

+   Ferrari will return to world-class endurance sports car racing, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with an in-house program for the Hypercar category that will be ready in 2023. More at Motorsport.com. 

 Nissan reports it is working on an internal-combustion engine with a potential thermal efficiency of 50 percent, driving a generator in a narrow rpm range. More at Road & Track.

+   Aptera, the California startup aiming to produce a three-wheeled electric vehicle with a range of 1000 miles, has acquired $4 million in Series A (first-round) funding. More at Car and Driver. 

+   The next version of the Aston Martin Vallhalla supercar may be powered by an engine from Mercedes-Benz, which holds a 20 percent interest in sports car maker. More at Autocar. 

+   Two Roush-modified vintage station wagons from the collection of Edsel Ford II, great-grandson of Henry Ford, will be offered at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. More at Old Cars. 

 A new company called Packard America hopes to revive the Packard brand starting with a wristwatch that will sell in a limited edition of 50 copes, each priced at $1899. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   NASCAR will host a Goodyear tire test at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas in preparation for the first Cup event to be held on the 3.41-mile road course in May. More at Jayski.
