 Ford confirmed that it has delayed some 4500 deliveries of the new Mustang Mach-E electric crossover and will compensate buyers with cash and free charging time. More at The Detroit News. 

+   In Mexico, automobile production plummeted by nearly 29 percent in February to 238,869 vehicles, due in large part to bad weather and the microchip shortage. More at Reuters. 

+   Volkswagen says it expects 70 percent of its VW-brand sales in Europe and half of its sales in the USA will be all-electric vehicles by 2030, doubling a previous forecast. More at CNBC. 

 City officials in St. Petersburg, Florida have conditionally approved the admission of 20,000 spectators per day at the NTT IndyCar Series event on April 23-25. More at Racer. 

+   Silicon Valley electric-car startup Ample is developing a network of quick-change facilities  that can exchange a vehicle’s modular battery packs in 10 minutes. More at Car and Driver. 

+   A extra-long, three-row Land Rover Defender 130 is due to arrive in 2022, riding on the same 119-inch wheelbase as the Defender 110 but with 14 inches more overall length. More at Autoblog. 

 The RM Sotheby’s online-only Open Roads February auction, conducted in three countries, generated more than $11 million in sales and a 76 percent sell-through rate. More at Classic Cars.com Journal.

 At its Hermosillo, Mexico plant, Ford has quietly launched pilot production of a compact pickup truck with unit construction that will reportedly be named Maverick. More at The Drive. 

 The city government in Petaluma, California, around 40 miles north of San Francisco, has enacted a measure that bans the construction of new gasoline stations. More at Motor Trend. 

 Nashville Mayor John Cooper has signed a letter of intent to renovate the historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in preparation for a potential future NASCAR date. More at Jayski.
