 Ford reported a $2 billion loss in the first quarter of 2019 and warned investors of a probable $5 billion loss in the second quarter due to the COVID-19 outbreak. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Luc Donckerwolke, who previously served at Bentley, Audi, and Lamborghini, has stepped down from his post as chief design officer at Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. More at The Drive. 

+   Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk lashed against the workplace and community restrictions triggered by the coronavirus outbreak, tweeting “Free America now!” More at Reuters. 

+   NASCAR plans to get back on track May 17 with a live Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, and intends to announce a provisional 2020 schedule soon. More at Fox Sports. 

+   World Rally driver and YouTube video star Ken Block has unveiled a new stunt vehicle, a Fox-body Mustang with all-wheel drive that will be called the Hoonifox. More at Autoblog.

 General Motors will delay the formal introduction of its GMC Hummer EV pickup, originally slated for May 20, but production will remain on schedule. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+   Retired Ford Motor Company stylist Gale Halderman, who was instrumental in the design of the original 1965 Mustang, has passed away at 87 with liver cancer. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Cities across the United States have recorded spikes in auto thefts of 18 to 63 percent over previous weeks as thieves take advantage of the COVID-19 outbreak. More at Car and Driver. 

 NASCAR team owner Richard Childress has donated an ex-Dale Earnhardt racer to an online Barrett-Jackson/Proxibid auction to benefit the COVID-19 relief effort. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   The NTT IndyCar Series has asked its teams to prepare for running their cars with fewer trackside support personnel once the 2020 season finally gets under way. More at Racer.
