 Electric carmaker Fisker Inc. has finalized a vehicle assembly deal with Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology that includes plans to construct a plant in the USA in 2023. More at Reuters. 

 All 14 of the Stellantis vehicle brands will be developed in the regions where they are sold and will have a decade of support to prove their value, says CEO Carlos Tavares. More at The Detroit News. 

+   German supplier Mahle has developed an electric vehicle motor that powers the rotor via contactless induction, eliminating magnets and the need for rare earth metals. More at New Atlas. 

+   Speedway Motorsports veteran Eddie Gossage will retire after 25 years as president of Texas Motor Speedway following next month’s NASCAR All-Star Race at the track. More at ESPN. 

+   Mitsubishi’s in-house motorsport and tuning division, Ralliart, will be revived by the automaker after an 11-year hiatus to bolster the brand’s performance image. More at Car and Driver. 

 Hyundai announced that it will invest $7.4 billion in its U.S. operations, including creating a battery electric vehicle supply chain and investing in hydrogen infrastructure. More at The Drive.  

 A major structural fracture has resulted in the indefinite closing of the Interstate 40 bridge near Memphis, over the Mississippi River between Arkansas and Tennessee. More at Autoblog.

 Cruise, General Motors’ majority-owned autonomous vehicle subsidiary, expects the automaker to start production on a driverless shuttle vehicle called the Origin in 2023. More at CNBC. 

 The entry list for the 2021 Indianapolis 500 on May 30 includes 35 car-and-driver combinations and a nearly even split of 18 Chevrolet and 17 Honda-powered teams. More at NBC Sports.

  1. Saw some pictures of the MS river bridge and what they called a crack…..looked more like a main beam was broken completely in two! Can’t count how many times I’ve been across that bridge grossing close to 80,000 lbs loaded truck and trailer! That bridge always had pucker factor going across it with it being sorta narrow and so high off the water. Glad I don’t have to go up that way anymore, looks like it will be a major repair that will take a while to get right.
