 Producer J.J. Abrams, whose credits include several titles in the Star Wars franchise, will produce a live action Hollywood feature film based on Mattel’s Hot Wheels. More at Car and Driver. 

 The fastest-selling new cars in the USA for 2022 include the Honda CRV, Genesis GV70, and Lexus LX 350, while the Tesla Model X and Honda Insight are among the hottest used vehicles. More at Autoblog. 

 According to financial disclosures, General Motors CEO and chairman Mary Barra received $29.1 milllion in compensation in 2021, a 23 percent increase over last year. More at The Detroit News.

 Maruti Suzuki, which produces half the cars sold in India and is majority-owned by Suzuki of Japan, beat analyst estimates for the first quarter with a net profit of $240.81 million. More at Reuters. 

 According to insiders, the C8 Corvette ZR1 will be powered by a twin-turbo version of the 5.5-liter flat-crank V8 with 850 horsepower, but no launch date has been suggested. More at The Drive.

 Michigan is among the 16 states suing the United States Postal Service to halt the purchase of gasoline-powered trucks and compel it to update to more efficient vehicles. More at the Detroit Free Press.

+   Formula 1 drivers who have sampled the Miami Grand Prix course in team simulators say they are encouraged by the new circuit, which will host its first race on May 6-8. More at Autosport.
