Today’s Headlines:

+   Ford Motor Company reported $2.4 billion in net income for the third quarter of the year, an improvement of $2 billion from the same period in 2019. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Fiat Chrysler and PSA are expected to win approval from the European Union for their $38 billion merger to create the world’s fourth largest automaker, insiders say. More at Reuters. 

 Volkswagen reports that the company returned a profit of $3.23 billion in the third quarter thanks to strong cost controls and a rebound of sales in the China market. More at The Detroit News. 

+   According to two recent studies by Kogad and Cars.com, the U.S. production vehicle with the greatest amount of domestic content is the 2020 Ford Ranger midsize pickup. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 Kyle Larson, who was exiled from NASCAR for six months after using a racist slur, will return to the Cup Series to drive a Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports in 2021. More at NBC Sports.

 General Motors’ Defense division has delivered its first Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV), a Chevrolet Colorado-based troop carrier, as part of a $215 million U.S. Army contract. More at Car and Driver 

+   On November 12, Ford will unveil the E-Transit, an electric version of its familiar Transit commercial van, which could be available to the public by the fall of 2021. More at The Drive. 

 Chevrolet Performance will offer an E-Crate conversion package for hot rodders that includes an electric motor and 60 kWh battery pack from the Chevy Bolt production car. More at Ars Technica. 

 Alfa Romeo and the Sauber Engineering Formula 1 team have extended their current partnership and naming agreement through 2021, the parties announced. More at Motorsport.com. 

 RM Sotheby’s combined live and online auction of the 240-vehicle Elkhart collection in Elkhart, Indiana generated $44.38 million in sales with eight cars topping $1 million each. More at Sports Car Digest.

  1. That GM military vehicle, while interesting, suffers from the same fault of the original Hummer—a lack of occupant protection. By the time they put on armor, that 5000 lb weight will probably double, and they will be useless slugs.
