 Toyota reports that due to semiconductor shortages, it plans to produce around 800,000 vehicles worldwide in October, about 100,000 short of its average monthly target. More at Reuters.

+   Ford’s share price tumbled more than 12 percent this week after the company issued a warning that third-quarter earnings could suffer from supply woes and inflationary pressure. More at The Detroit News.

 Justin Marks, owner of the NASCAR Cup team Trackhouse Racing, says IndyCar is one potential area for expansion, but plans are still in their due dligence phase for now. More at Racer. 

 According to a report from Cox Automotive, new and used vehicle prices are stablizing in the U.S., signaling that a shift to a buyer’s market could be around the corner. More at Autoweek. 

 U.S. chip designer Qualcomm says its automotive business pipeline has increased to $30 billion, up more than $10 billion since its third quarter results were announced in July. More at Investing.com. 

 In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Acura vice-president and brand chief Jon Ikeda said there will be a third-generation NSX and it will be electric, adding, “You can bet on it.” More at Autoblog. 

 Hertz and General Motors have set a deal for the rental car giant to acquire 175,000 Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and BrightDrop electric vehicles for its rental car fleet. More at Newsweek.

+   The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is the latest “Last Call” special edition from Stellantis, using the widebody Hellcat Redeye as its foundation and boasting 807 hp. More at Car & Driver. 

  Two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. has named his sister and longtime business partner Kelley Earnhardt Miller to serve as chief executive officer of all his companies. More at Motorsport.com
