 General Motors will add more than 1,200 jobs at its Lansing, Michigan plants to meet demand for its mid-size SUVs and launch production on two new Cadillac sedans. More at The Detroit News. 

 The Golden Ray, a cargo ship that sank off the coast of Georgia last September with 4,200 new automobiles on board, is finally being dismantled and hauled away. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Sources at Ferrari have conceded that the team’s 2020 Formula 1 engine is “not as strong” as it was last season as the group struggles to overcome a straightline speed deficit. More at Motorsport.com. 

+   A 1963 Chevrolet station wagon built by Brad, Brady, and Cory Ranweiler of Show Cars Automotive in Ulm, Minnesota won the 2020 Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama. More at Hot Rod Network.  

 Tesla and Panasonic are reportedly ending their joint production of solar cells at Tesla’s Gigafactory 2 facility in Buffalo, New York, according to the Nikkei Asian Review. More at CNBC. 

 At a Facebook Live event, Fiat Chrysler design chief Ralph Gilles reportedly confirmed that the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will appear later this year. More at CNET Roadshow.

+   Honda has unveiled a tiny faux-SUV variant of the subcompact Fit/Jazz sedan called the Jazz Crosstour, though the company says it will not be offered in the United States. More at Motor Trend. 

+   Team Penske hopes to arrange more IndyCar races in 2020 for its Australian Supercars champion, New Zealander Scott McLaughlin, beyond the Indianapolis Grand Prix in May. More at Racer,
