 Toyota will offer the RAV4, the USA’s best-selling compact SUV, as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid only in 2026, phasing out the internal-combustion-only version of the vehicle. More at CNBC. 

 Volvo Cars CEO Hakan Samuelsson says customers will have to pay a large part of tariff-related cost increases, which could price the affordable EX30 out of the market in the USA. More at MSN.

+   Three-time IndyCar series champion Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing held off Marcus Ericsson over the final laps to win his first Indinapolis 500 and his fifth win of the year. More at Yahoo! Sports. 

 A federal  judge in Michigan placed the assets of Bollinger Motors’ into receivership following claims that the EV startup still owes its founder, Robert Bollinger, more than $10 million. More at Electriek. 

 The Lotus Emira may soon get a V8 as the current engine, a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter suprecharged V6, will not comply with the upcoming 2026 Euro 7 emissions standards. More at The Drive. 

 The U.S. Senate has passed a measure to block the state of California’s plan to phase out the sale of new gasoline-only vehicles by 2035, which will also affect 11 more states. More at CBT News. 

+   Elon Musk has declared that he’ll only step down from his position as Tesla CEO within the next five years if he dies and claims that sales at the EV maker are turning around. More at Autoblog. 

 At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, BMW unveiled the Speedtrap, a shooting brake version of the 8-series Skytrap, announcing that production will be limited to 70 cars. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Richard Childress Racing and Kyle Busch have signed a one-year contract extension to keep the the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion in the seat through 2026. More at Jayski.
