+  Nearly one in five vehicles sold in the European Union in the third quarter was an EV or hybrid, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA). More at Reuters. 

 GMC has rolled out a refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra pickup with an upgraded interior, a larger digital display, Super Cruise hands-free driving, and new front-end styling. More at Car and Driver.

+   It is likely to be a decade before self-driving taxis will be deployed on public roads, says Peter Rawlinson, former Tesla chief engineer and current CEO at EV startup Lucid. More at Autoblog. 

+  Two children were killed and eight more spectators were injured when a car went out of control on a temporary drag strip course at Kerrville-Kerr County Airport in Texas. More at USA Today. 

+   Canadian Trade Minister Mary Ng warned that proposed U.S. federal electric vehicle tax credits would do “irreparable harm’ to both the U.S. and Canadian auto industries. More at The Detroit News. 

 Despite the pandemic and the ongoing chip and supply chain crisis, Lambroghini is on its way to another record sales year, mostly due to strong sales of the Urus SUV. More at The Drive. 

 For the fifth year in a row, the driver shortage has topped the American Transportation Research Institute’s (ATRI) survey of top trucking industry issues. More at the Commercial Carrier Journal.  

 A company in Wixom, Michigan is working on a plastic battery tray and cover for electric vehicles that could potentially contain or prevent thermal-runaway battery fires. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 The Bonhams Golden Age of Motoring Sale on Nov. 5 in London will feature a selection of pioneer automobiles eligible for the annual London-to-Brighton run on Nov. 7. More at ClassicCars.com Journal. 

+   A team from the Technical University of Munich won the Indy Autonomous Challenge for self-driving race cars at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, earing a $1 million prize. More at IndyStar.

  1. I hope this puts an end to the flashlight drags airport events. They were a bad idea to start with. As if NHRA never learned anything about safety in 60 years.
