First look: Chevrolet SEMA 2012 show cars

Chevrolet has offered an early look at some of the show cars the brand will have on display at the SEMA show in Las Vegas next week.

The one-off vehicles the automakers build for the SEMA show each year are an interesting study. Among other things, they show us what the design staffs might do with the production models if they were allowed more freedom (and budget) with wheels, paint and interior materials, performance specs, and exterior doodads. In that regard, you could consider these their what-if vehicles.

Here’s a rundown on the fresh rolling stock for the 2012 show:

+   The Malibu Turbo Performance Concept (also shown above) with a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 20 pounds of boost and rated at 259 horsepower. Upgrades include a full aero kit, Recaro seats, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.

+   The Cruze Upscale Concept, featuring Burnished Brandy Metallic exterior paint with a brown leather interior. Mods include Black Ice exterior trim, adjustable coil-overs, and four-piston front brakes.

+   The Sonic Z-Spec 1 Concept sports Synergy Green paint (from the Camaro chip chart),  a Borla exhaust system, lowered ride height, and big brakes.

+   The Sonic Z-Spec 2.5 Concept, kitted out to show what can be done with components from the Chevrolet Performance and GM Accessories catalogs, then dressed up with trick three-stage Abalone paint.

+   The Spark Z-Spec Concept, featuring a Chevrolet Accessories aero kit and Z-Spec grille, custom split-spoke wheels, and red-stripe tires.

+   The Spark Sinister Concept, with rally-inspired rear wing and diffuser, red split-spoke wheels, bow-tie graphics, and Carbon Flash Metallic exterior paint.

+   The Spark Color Run pace car, with custom color graphics supporting the national 5k run series.

+   The Spark Pink Out Cancer Awareness Concept, featuring Chevrolet Accessories ground effects and Z-spec grille, and a custom interior with pink suede headliner, pillar trim, instrument panel trim and accent piping.

You can find multiple images of these vehicles in the slide show gallery below.
