Ford and friends step up for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation

Ford has donated a fully tricked-out F-650 Extreme Supertruck pickup to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach April 5-6 in support of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.

The Darrell Gwynn Foundation will auction this awesome 2012 Ford F-650 Extreme Supertruck at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auto Auction on April 5-6 at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the foundation, whose mission is to support people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries.

Gearheads know the Darrell Gwynn story well. Number 32 on the NHRA all-time list, Darrell collected 28 national wins by age 28, only to suffer a violent Top Fuel crash in 1990 that took much of his left arm and left him paralyzed. The work of the Darrell Gwynn foundation, formed by Darrell and his wife Lisa, includes the Wheelchair Donation Program, Patient Assistance Fund, and Education and Prevention Program. For more info and to learn how you can help, you can visit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation website or its facebook page.

The F-650 was donated by Ford Motor Company and customized by Truck Customs by Chris, Inc. The many trick features include Michelin X-One tires and Alcoa wheels, ProPower Metal custom stainless steel fuel tanks and dummy boxes with stainless straps, four-link air suspension by Kelderman Air Ride, and custom paint and graphics by Custom Concepts.  If that’s not enough, included in the deal is what must be the ultimate grill: a Rolltisserie by Southern Pride, a fully automatic, gas-fired, wood-burning assist, self-basting rotisserie system with digital thermostat control.

Sponsors who made the project possible include: Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, Reliable Transportation, Ford Motor Company, Extreme Supertrucks, Michelin, ProPower Metal Tanks, Kelderman Air Ride, Custom Concepts, Motion Metal Works, JEGS, Truck Parts Specialist of Augusta, Memphis Car Audio, Pioneer Car Audio, Triad Power Boats, Sun Buster Window Tint and Royal Purple.
