 General Motors chairman and CEO Mary Barra was paid $21.87 million in total compensation in 2018, making her the highest-paid Detroit Three executive. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Incoming Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius will seek $9 billion in savings, eliminate 10,000 jobs, and end its partnerships with Renault and Nissan, Manager Magazin reported. More at Automotive News Europe. 

NASCAR will introduce aero and body components developed for the 2021 Gen-7 race cars at this year’s Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte. More at Motorsport.com.

 WardsAuto has selected its 10 Best Interiors for 2019, with this year’s list featuring a number of crossovers including the Hyundai Sante Fe and Lincoln Nautilus. More at Motor Trend. 

+  Nissan will cut global production by about 15 percent as the company backs away from  former chairman Carlos Ghosn’s aggressive expansion campaign, according to Nikkei. More at Reuters. 

+  Hackers in Chicago have stolen from 100 to 200 luxury cars from Share Now, a car sharing program backed by BMW and Daimler that was formerly known as Car2Go. More at The Drive. 

+   Five Pontiacs from the private collection of advertising legend Jim Wangers will be offered at the Mecum Indy Auction at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on May 14-19. More at Classic Cars.com Journal.

+   As predicted, former Nissan executive Jose Munoz has been appointed COO of Hyundai Motor and chief executive of the automaker’s North American arm. More at CNBC. 

 Marco Andretti will pay tribute to his grandfather Mario Andretti’s 1969 Indy 500 victory with a dayglo orange paint scheme on his Andretti Autosport car for this year’s event. More at Racer.
