To reduce inventory levels, General Motors will cut back production of the Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV at plants in Ingersoll, Ontario and San Luis Potosi, Mexico. More at The Detroit News. 

 Mahindra has signed a letter of intent to build a plant on the site of a former Buick factory in Flint which could employ 2,000 workers building U.S. postal vehicles. More at Crain’s Detroit Business. 

 Reinhard Fischer, senior vice president for Volkswagen Group, says the tipping point is near in price parity for all-electric versus internal-combustion vehicles. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   Bobby Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing reports that the IndyCar team is close to entering a third car to race alongside current drivers Graham Rahal and Takuma Sato. More at Racer. 

 Bentley’s Mulliner coachbuilding division has recreated the 1939 Corniche, a Vanrooven-bodied 100-mph special that was destroyed in World War II bombing. More at UK Autocar. 

 The MG badge will be applied to a midsize pickup manufactured in China and sold in Thailand by Shanghai Automotive, which now owns the storied British brand. More at The Drive. 

 Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar, owner of the former Al-Anabi drag racing team, ordered his security chief to murder two Americans, a lawsuit alleges. More at The Times of London.

+   Nissan will discontinue the Cummins diesel V8-powered version of its Titan fullsize pickup and will drop the standard-cab style when the truck is refreshed for 2020. More at Autoblog. 

 Three Plymouth 426 hemi-powered race cars formerly raced by the legendary team of Sox & Martin were among the top 10 sellers at the Mecum Auctions Harrisburg sale. More at Hemmings Daily.

+   Ride sharing pioneer Uber reported a record $5.2 billion loss and revenue that fell short of Wall Street targets due to declining sales, sending its share price down 6 percent. More at Reuters.

+   With a name change to the Mexico City Grand Prix, Mexico will remain on the Formula 1 calendar through 2022 following a deal to expand the schedule to 22 races. More at BBC Sport.

  1. It’s a shame Mahindra could be building vehicles for the US post office. Apparently the Detroit 3 don’t want the job, although Ford is partnered in one deal.
