 The Canadian government is expected to announce new regulations this week requiring all new passenger cars sold after 2035 to be zero tailpipe emissions vehicles. More at CBC. 

 General Motors announced it is laying off 1,300 workers at the Orion and Lansing plants in Michigan in January due to the discontinuation of the Camaro and the current Chevy Bolt EV. More at Autoblog 

 The Federal Trade Commission announced new rules to prevent car dealers from using bait-and-switch techniques and charging junk fees, potentially saving consumers billions. More at Car and Driver.  

+   Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur.says the FIA was “hasty” and embarassed the sport in its investigation of Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff and wife Susie Wolff. More at Racer.  

+   Volkswagen’s Scout Motors unit will build an $11 million research and development center in Novi, Michigan northwest of Detroit, where it plans to employ around 200 people. More at Autoweek. 

+   U.S. factory production rebounded in November, reflecting a pickup in activity at carmakers and parts suppliers following the end of the United Auto Workers’ strike. More at The Detroit News. 

 Ann Carlson, the acting head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is stepping down due to time-in-office limits imposed on acting federal officials. More at Reuters. 

 General Motors has issued a stop-sale notice to dealers and sent recall letters to owners to address splitting roof panels on around 3,000 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras. More at The Drive. 

 New Zealand driver Shane van Gisbergen, surprise winner of the Chicago Cup race, will open his 2024 season at Trackhouse Racing with a start in the ARCA event at Dayona. More at Jayski.
