+   Tesla Inc. has added Silicon Valley wizard Larry Ellison and Walgreens executive vice president Kathleen Wilson-Thompson to the board as independent directors. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Nissan is set to reduce production by 30,000 vehicles at three plants in China over the next two months as carmakers grapple with the slide in new car sales there. More at Reuters. 

 Veteran executive Jim Perkins, who twice served as general manager of Chevrolet with a stint at Toyota’s Lexus brand in between, has passed away at 83. More at Automotive News. 

 Boston Red Sox owner and Roush Fenway Racing co-owner John Henry is reportedly considering taking a minority ownership stake in NASCAR. More at Bloomberg.

 Analyst Jamie Albertine of Consumer Edge Research has added retailer Penske Auto Group and exotic car maker Ferrari to its list of top auto stocks for 2019. More at CNBC. 

+   Official photos of the 2020 Toyota Supra have inadvertently leaked via email from Toyota of Germany in advance of the formal introduction in Detroit next month. More at Autoevolution. 

 Auto designer Gordon Murray has been awarded the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in the Queen’s New Year’s honors list 2019, for “services to motoring.” More at Autocar.

+   General Motors has filed to renew the trademark for the Envoy name, signalling that the carmaker could reintroduce the once-popular GMC Envoy SUV. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

 After years of legal wrangling over its ownership, a 1960 Corvette raced at Le Mans by Briggs Cunningham has been ordered sold through a receiver by an Indiana judge. More at Hemmings Daily.  

+   A Pro Touring Chevy Bel Air known as the Fierce Fifty-Five will be among the featured consignments at next month’s Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. More at Classic Cars.com Journal.
