+   General Motors has granted its Detroit-Hamtramck plant a seven-month reprieve, extending production of the Cadillac CT6 and Chevrolet Impala until January 2020. More at The Detroit News.

 Mike Jackson, the departing chief executive of mega-dealer chain AutoNation, says the new car market is headed into decline, predicting sales of 16.8 million units in 2019. More at CNBC.

+   Hyundai reports it is “overwhelmed” by greater-than-expected demand for the Kona EV, the automaker’s electric-powered subcompact crossover priced at $37,495. More at Motor Trend.

 James Key will take up his new role as technical director of the McLaren Formula 1 team on March 25 after the company reached a deal with former employer Red Bull. More at BBC Sport.

+   Cadillac launched a high-visibility ad campaign at the 91st Academy Awards, acquiring the rights to the famed red carpet and airing four new broadcast commercials. More at Autoblog.

+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is preparing to issue its first regular dividend with a distribution to shareholders of $1.1 billion, or around 75 cents per share. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   A new show at the Petersen Automotive Museum entitled Winning Numbers: The First, The Fastest, The Famous, features 10 famous race cars from the Bruce Meyer collection. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   Lexus, Toyota, Porsche, Chevrolet, and Buick topped the list in the 2019 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study for three year-old vehicles, while Fiat ranked last. More at USA Today. 

+   Tatiana Calderon, a 25 year-old Colombian, is set to become the first female driver in Formula 2 as she joins the BWT Arden team alongside F3 champion Anthoine Hubert. More at Racer. 

+   Daimler and BMW confirmed plans for a joint venture to invest $1.1 billion in five mobility startups, including vehicle charging, ride sharing, and ride hailing services. More at The Drive.
