+   John Andretti, a winning driver in IndyCar, NASCAR, and IMSA, and the nephew of Mario Andretti, has passed away at 56 after a long battle with colon cancer. More at NBC Sports. 

+   Share prices in Tesla Inc. soared and Wall Street analysts swooned as the electric automaker reported stronger than expected earnings and teased its upcoming Model Y. More at Markets Insider. 

+   GMC will unveil a new Hummer electric-powered truck boasting 1,000 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 3.0 seconds with a TV commercial in Sunday’s Super Bowl broadcast. More at Autoblog. 

+   The market for Japanese collector cars continues to climb as a pristine 1971 Datsun 240Z with just 21,750 miles on the clock sold for $310,000 in an online auction. More at The Drive. 

+   The Wrangler-based Jeep Gladiator pickup, a hot ticket when it was introduced one year ago, is now selling at significant discounts of $2,000 to $9,000 off the sticker price. More at CNET Roadshow. 

 Volkswagen’s Traton truck unit, which currently owns 17 percent of U.S. truck maker Navistar International, has offered to purchase the rest of the company for $2.9 billion. More at Automotive News Europe.

 At the 2020 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California, Monty Belsham’s Kugel Muroc ’32 Ford received the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award. More at Hemmings Daily. 

+   Ford Motor Co. plans to partner with Plymouth-based electric-vehicle startup Rivian Automotive to develop the first-ever fully electric Lincoln, a luxury SUV. More at The Detroit News. 

 Gooding & Company’s first collector car auction outside the United States will include a “masterpiece collection” of 16 exceptional British, French and Italian cars. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 In a move to bolster its electronics business, parts supplier BorgWarner is acquiring Delphi Technologies in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $3.3 billion. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Indy 500 winner and 2004 IndyCar champion Tony Kanaan will say goodbye to the series in 2020 with a five-race farewell tour, all on oval courses, with AJ Foyt Racing. More at WTHR Indianapolis.

  1. So it looks like I missed the train on Tesla stock, which tripled in three months, and on Japanese collector cars too. Still poor.

  2. Z cars, I have owned several but all rotten with rust. Twenty thousand miles,, it will have rust holes!!
