 Carmaker Stellantis and iPhone assembler Foxconn have formed a 50-50 joint venture to design and sell semiconductors for the automotive industry starting in 2026. More at Reuters.

+   In Tesla’s second-quarter earnings call, CEO Elon Musk said the carmaker is currently in talks with a “major OEM” to license the Tesla Autopilot and Full Self Driving systems. More at The Drive.  

 India’s Tata Group will build an electric vehicle battery plant in Britain to supply its Jaguar Land Rover factories, investing $5.2 billion and reportedly creating up to 4,000 jobs. More at World Auto Forum. 

+   Following his dominating performance at Chicago, Supercar champion Shane van Gisbergen from New Zealand will return to NASCAR Cup on the road course at Indianapolis. More at Autosport. 

+   A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that raced at Daytona in 1966 and Le Mans in 1968 is expected to bring $18 million to $20 million at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction in August. More at Autoblog. 

+   General Motors has appointed Norm de Greve, a veteran of CVS Health, as its new senior vice president and chief marketing officer, replacing the retiring Deborah Wahl. More at The Detroit News. 

 Atco Dragway in south New Jersey, an East Coast drag racing institution since 1960, suddenly announced that it is closing permanently and all events for 2023 are cancelled. More at Hemmings. 

 President Joe Biden met with United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain at the White House as the union leader was in Washington to discuss contract talks with the automakers. More at the Detroit Free Press.
