+   Porsche announced it will name its upcoming Mission E all-electric sports car the Taycan, pronounced “tie-can,” which the carmaker says means “lively young horse.” More at Motor Trend. 

 Replacements for retiring Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne are said to include company veterans Mike Manley, Alfredo Altavilla, and Richard Palmer. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Germany’s KBA road vehicle authority has found five illegal emissions defeat devices on Daimler engines, the newspaper Bild am Sonntag reported. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   Following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned a federal prohibition, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will offer betting on NASCAR competition, including proposition wagers. More at Racer. 

+   BorgWarner CEO James Verrier, 55, will step down effective August 1, to be replaced by the parts supplier’s current chief operating officer Frederic Lissalde. More at Crain’s Detroit Business. 

 Giles Taylor, design chief at Rolls-Royce, has suddenly departed the company “to pursue alternative business interests,” while a replacement has not yet been named. More at AutoGuide. 

 The UAW-Chrysler National Training Center has sued two former company executives and a labor leader’s widow to recover $4.4 million in allegedly embezzled funds. More at The Detroit News. 

+   Feature consignments at the 2018 RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale in August will include a 1934 Packard Twelve by Dietrich and a 1927 Isotta Fraschini Fleetwood Roadster. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   The FIA has unveiled new a new formula for a production-based “Hypercar concept” in 2020 to replace the current LMP1 category in the World Endurance Championship. More at Autoblog. 

 The 2018 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix on July 6-15 will host the Kastner Cup for Triumph race cars and the BMW Car Club of America’s annual Oktoberfest. More at Hemmings Daily.

  1. That Packard photo is not up to the usual standard of mouth-watering, gotta-have-that-car auction photography. Even Subaru print ads have more juice. Go back to the May 25th posting for the 1956 Maserati Zagato. That’s how you sell a car.

    Damn kids spend all their time in front of a screen and they don’t know how to present a graphic that’s not a meme or animated gif.
