+   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will invest $4.5 billion to convert its Mack Avenue engine complex in Detroit into an assembly plant for trucks and SUVs, adding 6,500 jobs. More at Crain’s Detroit Business.

+   As promised in 2016 when the Tesla Model 3 was first announced, a version priced at $35,000 (plus destination charge) with a range of 220 miles has been introduced. More at Motor Trend.

 PSA Group managing board chairman Carlos Tavares confirmed that the French automaker will return to the U.S market by 2026 with the 208 year-old Peugeot brand. More at Motor 1. 

+   Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials have revised the Indianapolis 500 qualifying procedure as the Bump Day session was moved from Saturday to Sunday, May 19. More at Racer. 

+   Two executive vice presidents at General Motors, Alan Batey and Alicia Boler Davis, are leaving the automaker, setting off a round of executive reshuffling. More at The Detroit News. 

 Honda reports that its electric-powered E prototype coupe is “95 percent” production-ready and will make an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show this coming week. More at Autoblog. 

+   New lawyers for deposed Nissan-Renault chairman Carlos Ghosn have filed a third application for bail as his incarceration on fraud charges stretched past 100 days. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   Land Rover and Rolls-Royce will be featured at the Classic Car Auctions sale at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show in Birmingham, England. More at Classic Cars.com Journal.

+   According to the most recent Experian study, auto loan delinquencies are on the rise, while the average monthly new car payment has risen to a record $545. More at CNBC. 

+   Joe Gibbs Racing, driver Kyle Busch, and candymaker Mars Inc. have renewed their partnership in NASCAR Monster Cup with a multi-year agreement. More at Sporting News.
