 U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida introduced legislation intended to block tax credits for Ford’s joint-venture EV battery plant in Michigan with Chinese manufacturer CATL. More at Reuters. 

+   Air sampling by the state of Michigan at the new Jeep Mack Ave. plant in Detroit found pollutants that may be related to neighbor complaints of foul odors and throat and eye irritation. More at The Detroit News.

 General Motors will offer voluntary buyouts to a “majority” of its 58,000 U.S. white-collar employees as it continues CEO Mary Barra’s two-year plan to cut $2 billion in operating costs. More at CNBC. 

+   Daytona 24 Hours winner Meyer Shank Racing was hammered with severe penalties by IMSA for manipulating its tire pressure data, but will be allowed to keep the  victory. More at dailysportscar.com. 

 The next-generation Mini-Cooper EV due in May of 2024 will boast a dedicated EV platform developed by BMW and Great Wall Motors and a range of more than 240 miles. More at The Drive. 

 +   Gooding & Company’s annual Amelia Island auction drew $72.67 million in total sales, led by a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider that brought $18.04 million. More at Old Cars. 

+   A report from Cox Automotive found that 1.89 percent of auto loans in January were “severely delinquent” and at least 60 days behind payment, the highest rate since 2006. More at USA Today.

+   Airstream and Porsche’s design unit, Studio F.A. Porsche,  have collobarated on an advanced, lightweight travel trailer concept that can be pulled by an a small SUV or EV. More at Car and Driver. 

+   Subaru announced that CEO Atsushi Osaki Subaru America CEO Tom Doll will step aside as Jeff Walters, the current senior vice president of sales, will take over as president and COO. More at Autoblog.

+  Formula 1 2009 champion Jenson Button will make his NASCAR Cup debut at Circuit of the Americas, joining road-circuit experts Kimi Raikkonen and Jordan Taylor. More at Racer.
