+   A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission indicates that Jim Farley, Ford’s current chief operating officer, is slated to replace Jim Hackett as chief executive. More at Automotive News Europe. 

 Volkswagen’s new ID.3  electric hatchback will go on sale this summer with a base price thousands less than the gasoline-powered Golf and lower operating costs. More at Autoblog. 

 General Motors and Ford each announced that they have directed most of their U.S. white-collar employees to work from home due to the coronavirus outbreak. More at Reuters. 

+   New Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Roger Penske confirmed the company is engaged in discussions with Formula 1 and IMSA officials about events at the historic facility. More at Racer. 

 The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has issued safety guidelines for self-driving aids including Tesla’s Autopilot system and recommended they become law. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+   BMW will discontinue half its traditional piston-powered models by 2022 to make room for electric and hybrid models and streamline its vehicle development program. More at The Drive. 

+   Shares in Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler traded at 52-week lows and Tesla’s share price dropped 10 percent as equity markets reacted to the coronavirus. More at The Detroit News. 

+   A well-documented 1959 Porsche 718 RSK Spyder that has had just one owner in nearly half a century will be offered at the Bonhams Greenwich sale on May 31. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

+   The city of London’s familiar TX black taxis, manufactured by London EV Company Limited (LEVC), will be joined by a commercial delivery van built on the same platform. More at Motor Trend.
