+   General Motors plans to increase production of the Chevrolet Bolt electric car at its Orion, Michigan assembly plant later this year due to increasing global demand. More at The Detroit News.

+   Uber announced that the company has been sending self-driving trucks on delivery runs across Arizona since November, the first step in a potential  freight revolution. More at CNBC. 

+   Stewart-Haas Racing and driver Kevin Harvick were docked with severe penalties when NASCAR determined that their Ford’s roof and rocker panels violated technical rules. More at ESPN. 

+   With surplus cash on hand, Nissan may be able to increase its ownership stake in its sibling company Renault if the French government continues to divest its shares. More at Reuters. 

 As expected, President Donald Trump has imposed stiff tariffs on iron and steel imports, but with exemptions for Canada and Mexico added at the last moment. More at the Detroit Free Press.

 At the National Truck Equipment Association’s annual Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ram unveiled the 2019 500 Tradesman, a plain-Jane pickup aimed at the utility market. More at Auto123.com. 

+   Some 6,000 early deaths linked to nitrogen oxides (NOx) are recorded each year in Germany, mainly attributable to diesel emissions, say environmental authorities. More at Automotive News Europe.
