+   Hyundai Motor Co. and SK On plan to invest about $1.88 billion in a new joint venture battery factory in the United States, probably near the Hyundai EV plant in Georgia. More at Reuters. 

+   European Union ministers warned that time is running out to change Washington’s plans to grant consumer tax credits for U.S.-produced electric vehicles and other green products. More at LocalToday. 

In a recent survey, 51.4 percent of Canadians and 50.8 percent of Australians said they would prefer an EV for their next vehicle purchase, but only 33.8 percent of Americans. More at Motor Illustrated.  

+   Though eight teams have sponsorship deals with cryptocurrency exchanges, Formula 1 will weather the storm caused by the collapse of FTX, says McLaren boss Zak Brown. More at Autosport.

+   The Twitter accounts of General Motors CEO Mary Barra and GM’s vehicle brands have gone silent since Tesla CEO Elon Musk purchased the social media platform on Oct. 26. More at The Detroit News. 

 Domino’s is buying 800 Chevy Bolt electric vehicles for delivery use at locations across the U.S. as the pizza restaurant franchise aims to make its fleet more climate friendly. More at CNBC. 

+   Shelby American’s sixth-generation Super Snake Widebody Ford Mustang concept, unveiled in 2017, is headed to the Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida on Jan. 4-15. More at Motor Authority. 

Almost 643,000 Ford Escapes and Bronco Sports have been recalled to address fuel injectors that could crack and leak fuel onto the engine, potentially causing a fire. More at The Drive.

+   Jeep’s  Wrangler Unlimited High Tide special edition has returned for 2023 with the same Recon Package suspension upgrades and an additional new color, Punkin’ Orange. More at Autoblog.

+   Following  a demonstration event in Argentina, IndyCar president Jay Frye said 20 races per year would be a “sweet spot” for the series, which has 17 events on the 2023 schedule. More at Motorsport.com.

Regarding the EV survey in Motor Illustrated, the fine print of the website that carried out the survey says: “Compare the Market commissioned Pure Profile to survey 506 Australian, 1,006 American and 1,009 Canadian adults in March 2022.” So, a tiny sample size (506 Australians out of a population of 26 million) that is likely skewed towards inner city residents. The facts are that EV’s make up 2.4% of our car market, despite massive Govt subsidies.
