+  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has joined the chorus of opposition to the Trump administration’s plan to roll back fuel economy and emissions standards. More at The Detroit News. 

 Actor Kevin Hart suffered serious back injuries when his custom-built, Hellcat-powered 1970 Barracuda, in which he was a passenger, crashed on Mulholland Drive. More at USA Today. 

+  Volkswagen’s Audi unit is in negotiations to obtain batteries from BYD, the China-based electric car and battery maker backed by mega-investor Warren Buffett. More at Automotive News Europe.

 French driver Anthoine Hubert, 22, was killed and another driver was injured in a horrific high-speed crash in the Formula Two feature race at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. More at ESPN.

 The Bargersville Police Department of central Indiana has replaced one of its Dodge Charger patrol cars with a Tesla 3, anticipating a fuel cost savings of $5,000 per year. More at the Indianapolis Star. 

 The next-generation Subaru WRX STI due in 2021 will employ Subaru’s latest global platform and will boast an FA20-based turbocharged flat four rated at 315 horsepower. More at Road & Track. 

+  Texas-based tuner Hennessey will offer Venom editions of the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 with the buyer’s choice of 1,200 hp, 1,000 hp, and 825 hp engine packages. More at Autoblog. 

 The NTT IndyCar Series revealed its 2020 race schedule, which features a total of 17 events between mid-March and late September and Pocono replaced by Richmond. More at Racer.  

+  Some consumers are turning off driver safety systems because they find the technology  “annoying or bothersome,” according to a study released by J.D. Power. More at CNBC.

 A wholesale car and truck auction firm is negotiating to purchase the Auburn Auction Park from RM Auctions, which will continue to hold its regular events there. More at Classic Cars.com Journal.
