 Volkswagen unveiled its 2021 ID.4 electric crossover, which comes in both rear-drive and all-wheel-drive versions, boasts 250 miles in range, and is priced at $41,000. More at Car and Driver. 

+   BMW and two U.S. subsidiaries agreed to pay an $18 million U.S. fine to resolve accusations of misleading statements regarding the automaker’s retail sales volume. More at Reuters. 

  Sales of new gasoline-powered cars and trucks will be banned in the state of California after 2035 under an order signed by Governor. Gavin Newsom. More at The Detroit News. 

 Veteran General Motors engineer Mark Stielow has been appointed Director of Motorsports Competition Engineering, leading the automaker’s factory race programs. More at Racer. 

 Shares in fuel cell and electric truck maker Nikola fell to a new low after Wedbush Securities downgraded the company’s stock from “neutral” to “underperform.” More at CNBC. 

+  The National Hot Rod Association announced that the drag racing sanctioning body has filed a lawsuit against title sponsor Coca-Cola, citing contract violation. More at Drag Illustrated. 

+   BMW has filed a trademark application in Germany for the name Silent Shadow, suggesting that it could be the name for the new electric vehicle from its Rolls-Royce division. More at The Drive. 

+   Struggling motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson Inc. has hired its first female chief financial officer: Gina Goetter, a former senior vice president at Tyson Foods. More at USA Today. 

+   Consignments at the 14th annual RM Sotheby’s London auction on October 31, to be held online only this year, will include the 10th Jaguar E-Type produced. More at Classic Cars.com Journal. 

 With critical support from the Canadian government, Ford and Unifor, the Canadian auto workers’ union, have reached a tentative three-year labor agreement. More at the Detroit Free Press. 

+   Basketball legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin have formed a NASCAR Cup team with driver Bubba Wallace and a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing. More at ESPN.

  1. California can’t even supply it’s current customers electricity without rolling blackouts, how will they be able to support totally electric transportation? They won’t. What happens at 5 or 6 PM when everybody gets home and plugs in their electric cars? Total overload. This is pie in the sky dreams that will fail miserably in the end.
