+   Jaguar has opened a new design studio in Gaydon, England as part of a comprehensive overhaul of Jaguar Land Rover’s United Kingdom engineering center. More at Automotive News Europe. 

 Toyota will increase its ownership stake in Subaru from 17 to 20 percent as the two Japanese companies seek to leverage their research and development capabilities. More at Reuters. 

 As the passenger-car market continues to erode, premium luxury cars including the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Jaguar XF are now selling at deep discounts. More at Autoblog.

 Pennsylvania racer Rob Freyvogel remains in a coma one week after his Carbinite land-speed-record car crashed at 400+ mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats. More at The Drive. 

 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV will pay $40 million to settle charges that it misled investors and falsely reported the number of new vehicles sold each month. More at The Detroit News. 

Koenigsegg announced that the carmaker has broken its own 0-400-0 kph (248.54 mph) record with a time of 31.49 seconds in the Regera 1,500-hp hybrid hypercar. More at CNET Roadshow. 

+  In the NASCAR playoffs knockout round at Charlotte, Erik Jones, Ryan Newman, Aric Almirola, and Kurt Busch were eliminated, leaving 12 drivers eligible for the season title. More at NBC Sports.  

+   An administrative law judge has determined that Tesla violated labor law when CEO Elon Musk tweeted that union members would have to surrender their stock options. More at CNBC.
