 Photos have surfaced on Instagram of what is claimed to be the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, possibly leaked from a Ford dealer advance viewing. More at Road & Track.

+   Porsche will position the Taycan electric GT below the brand’s Panamera sedan when it reaches the market next year, with a reported starting price of around $92,000. More at Automotive News Europe. 

+   The future of the $7,500 federal tax credit to electric car buyers is in doubt as a pair of competing bills work their way through the legislative process. More at The Detroit News. 

+   With a wide lead over Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari, Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton can sew up a fourth world driving title at this weekend’s U.S. Grand Prix. More at ESPN. 

 An initial public offering (IPO) from the Uber ride-sharing service could value the company at up to $150 billion, according to proposals from Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. More at ABC News.

+   Tesla has acquired a $140 million plot in Shanghai’s Lingang area for a new electric car plant that will cover 1.7 million square meters and is scheduled for completion in three years. More at CNBC. 

+   General Motors will offer the 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 used in the Corvette ZR1, where it is rated at 755 horsepower, as a Chevrolet Performance crate engine. More at Motor Trend.

+   Premium Motorsports announced it will not compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next season as it plans to focus on Monster Cup in 2019. More at NBC Sports.

  1. Tesla getting a plant in China is big. The company now faces a 50 percent tariff for its USA built cars. Note China is allowing a sole ownership here also, very rare.

    • probs just for the Chinese market which produced 24 million automobiles in 2017 Alone.(apparently) Personally I can’t stand Tesla, and the bottom line in China will be that 95% of electric vehicles will be powered by coal.
