TIme-Lapse Video: Building the Porsche 911 GT3

Through the magic of time-lapse photography, see a brand new Porsche 911 GT3 manufactured in just four minutes from start to finish.

Time-lapse video seems to be tailor-made for the internet, where viewers are always in a hurry and attention spans are brief. So as you have probably noticed, when we see a well-produced example we like to share it when we can. In the real world, it takes Porsche two full days to assemble the 911 GT3, its stunning world-class sports car. But through the magic of video production, here the process been compressed down to a quick four minutes. We can witness the whole thing while enjoying our morning coffee.

Porsche produced this video to promote its Paint to Sample custom color program. In this case, veteran road racer Leh Keen ordered his 911 in a hand-picked Gold Bronze Metallic, which cost an extra $25,660 (above and beyond the $161,000 base price) but can be accommodated on the regular Porsche assembly line. However, in viewing the clip, we found the depiction of the production process in general so interesting and instructive that we had to post it here. Here’s how state-of-the-art cars are manufactured in the mid-21st century. Video below.
