Video: A Trial Run in a 1914 Simplex Speed Car

This wonderful video comes to us courtesy of our friend David Greenlees and his excellent website, The Old Motor. Here, David takes the Collier Collection’s mighty Simplex Speed Car out for a test run. Enjoy.

In theory, Mac’s Motor City Garage and The Old Motor are rival websites—fierce competitors for hearts and eyeballs in the digital world of collector cars. But in practice, we enjoy and respect The Old Motor as much as anyone. For gearheads, it’s a truly wonderful internet destination. So when website proprietor David Greenlees asked us to share his new video with the readers here at Mac’s Motor City Garage, we were delighted to come along.

Regular visitors at The Old Motor are aware of the continuing series there covering the engine overhaul and other work David’s shop is performing on the Collier Collection’s 1914 Simplex Speed Car, a genuine historical treasure. In this simple but beautifully produced video, David takes the mighty beast—589 CID T-Head engine and all–out for a trial run over the beautiful roads of rural Vermont on a brisk December morning. Oh, how we wish we were there on the passenger seat with him. Enjoy the video. Photo and video are the property of The Old Motor.
