Video: Ken Block terrorizes LA in Gymkhana 7

Randy'sLos Angeles is the setting for Ken Block’s latest mad opus, Gymkhana 7: Wild in the Streets. Watch this.

You know Ken Block. He’s the guy who transformed reckless operation of a motor vehicle from a criminal offense into an art form. For his latest production, Gymkhana 7, he’s put aside his usual late-model Ford rally-type equipment in favor of a old-school muscle machine: a 1965 Mustang coupe with all-wheel drive and a 845 hp hot rod V8. Note the eight injector stacks poking through the hood.

Also note all the familiar LA landmarks in the video: the Los Angeles River culvert; the giant concrete dunker on the roof of Randy’s Donuts on Manchester Boulevard; Chinatown; the 10 and 110 Freeways. There’s even a slow-moving white Bronco, and in a key scene, a hopping lowrider. All serve as backdrops for Block’s radical motorized shenanigans. It’s said that each Gymkhana video is more extreme and spectacular than the last, and the seventh will be no exception. So pull your belts down tight and watch this.

  1. Love the car. But I’m afraid I just couldn’t watch the whole twelve minutes of Ken sliding around things. He reminds me of those savants that do tricks on motocross bikes – after a while it gets a bit tiresome.

  2. Great skills, but just “where” does someone get to ‘practice’ these type of moves? I pulled a few of these stunts when in High School, and 1) lost driving privileges 2) got to explain to the police and judge what I was trying to ‘prove’ + pay a fine, and 3) tore my stuff up-and “I” was my only sponsor!
